Shooting Range

Today, I went to a shooting range as a guest of a friend. I was impressed with the discipline, precision and care that the shootists demonstrated during my three hours. This was a “meet” and so there were rules with an underlying competition that wasn’t evident by just looking at and listening to the shooters. Each of them was really competing with him/herself. It was fun to watch and a little disconcerting to try to take pictures of because I couldn’t get the position I wanted–which was in front of them. The first shot is looking down the shooting line after everyone has left for the day, except for one lone casing. The other two are of one of the high power shooters. He is shooting an AR-15 which is like the US Military’s M-16. The first is after the shot and the bolt is back just prior to the brass case being ejected. The last is the bolt has gone forward, another round has been inserted, and you can see the  empty brass flying off to the right.
