Santa Clause! Indianapolis Circle of Lights Festival

Three years ago my sister-in-law & mentor in Indianapolis asked me to help her take photos of the Circle of Lights. I signed up with eagerness! So…there I am with a press pass going in places only techies and actors can go! I had a blast but I have to admit that it was a very  long evening. I was on my feet from about 3:30 to after 9. People were having a great time. A local station broadcast a TV show from a sound stage they set up in City Center and thousands of people show up.  I can’t remember who the “stars” were, a football player and others. My job was to get shots of Santa coming down the street amongst the thousands of people. Since I had the pass I was in the “runway” they had set up for him. But they don’t slow down for photographers!  I got this shot literally laying on my back as Santa went by and leaned over to greet the people. I like it the best, I think, of all my photos. It was taken with my favorite  lens, the 85mm (D80, ISO 800, F2.8, 1/60, no flash). Sadly, I haven’t been back for another try. Since I haven’t been out lately, I decided to post these very old shots, cuz, ’tis the Season!

The one of Santa is amazing! It’s quite probably my favorite ever Santa portrait. Really great job!

I think serious photography is too complicated for me so I’ll leave it to you! All those numbers! But that’s a fantastic shot of the fireworks, however you did it! I’m partial to the pix of the kids and Diane but the Santa one is fantastic! Great job!
