Kyle Meets A New Friend

We went Christmas tree shopping yesterday and at the lot Kyle met a new friend. Not sure what type of dog it was but he was very nice. And very, very big! He probably weighed twice as much as Kyle. And evidently, he is fascinated by people’s ears! He wants to sniff them, his owner […]

A Bermese Mountain dog! How fantastic!! I love those dogs! If it wasn’t for the constant grooming thing, I’d get one! Too old to sit on the floor that long now. Sigh. Great pix!!

And so at last, my bride poses!

She is a great model but I still have a ton of things to learn. I used PS to get things to even out a little since my lights are a bit inconsistent. It was fun to do and Diane is a natural. I am going to put them in a portfolio so you’ll have […]

Great portraits Lee! You’re gorgeous Diane! And like Chris, I think I could add pretty accurate thought bubbles to many of these! (Of course I’m far to much of a lady to post some of them.)

WOW and double WOW!! Sometimes I am just astounded that this beautiful woman is actually related to me!! The lighting on Image 2 is just perfect! I don’t know what you said just before shooting 3 & 5 but that look says…..”you’re gonna get it, boy!” 😉 Really enjoy looking at your stuff! I’ll have to tell ole Tom. He bookmarked your page so he could go back to it! Great job, hon, and nice talking to you!!! Until next time……feel better! Love ya!

Working on lights – still

I am still practicing. I don’t have much room and the ceilings are just normal ceilings so the lights can’t be above the subjects! But hey, you gotta deal with whatever and it’s still just fine with me. At least I have ceilings! I asked the kids to pose and they actually did, even one […]

Hey, my cat came all the way across the ocean to your house! Missy really looks like the twin to our cat Alley. I like that picture the best too. I would suggest increasing the flash power and aiming it at a white wall to the left or right (or both) of the models if you don’t have high enough ceilings. It looks like they could use a bit more light in their faces. Walls make good diffusers. But I do like the quality of light you’ve got in everyone’s faces … beautiful catch lights.

SOOOO glad you got the new camera!!! Life is short…..go for the gusto!!

Chris - November 18, 2010 - 5:50 pm

Great snaps……although Jaz and Missy look like they would have avoided it totally if they could have found a way! 🙂 The white background certainly makes your subject(s) stand out & I suppose that’s the idea…..but maybe it’s a little stark? It’s just my female “eye” that thinks that. Heh, heh……. Great job, hon!!

Kelsey Helps Me With My Lighting

I have been trying different lighting techniques since the sun goes down so early.  I don’t really have the mind’s eye yet but I am learning some of the techniques. This is a standard three light setup with a softbox and umbrella. During the next couple of days, I’ll try some other combination to get […]

Whatever “eye” you think you don’t have…..YOU HAVE IT, BRO!! Isn’t it handy that braces are now the “IN” thing instead of something to hide? You have two beautiful daughters……and they’re really sweet to boot! A son who will grow up to be the genius that his daddy is…..and you’ve got my sister on top of that!! What a lucky man!! I love ya!!

Night Shoot

Last night I did a shoot of a “Flag Retiring” ceremony hosted by a local Knights of Columbus and group of Boy and Girl Scouts. The evening was very dramatic, the weather was outstanding, and it was very, very dark. I shot with and without flash, the withouts were taken at ISO 6400 and 12800. […]

That’s quite dramatic! Was there any lighting other than the fire?

Red Leaves At Night

We were on an evening walk. The red leaves on the ground caught my eye. I boosted the ISO to 8000 and took the shot at f/4.0 and 1/60. Not quite as captivating as in person…so. I missed something. I’ll have to come back to it.
