A Winnie The Pooh Blustery Day

Kels and I headed to Old Town for a muffin and some flowers. And that was about all the vendors that were there! The temperature was OK–in the mid 50s, but the wind was gusting the same–50mph!! We walked around next to the river for a bit and there were few people there, either. Just […]

Brick sidewalks! Boy! That’s something I’ll never see here! Thanks for a look at something truly different from my desert! Weather’s not good here either so look out. Maybe it will go north of you like that last one. We have a big box building in Victorville that seems to have “the curse”, too. Nothing survives there for very long. ‘Course, I totally understood the demise of that last one! A huge sports fishing store? On a desert? Not that many folks head for the ocean or the river to fish! Go figure.

Battlefield Barn

Next to the Aldie Battlefield I saw this old barn–falling down. Three thoughts went through my mind: (1) a wish that I could get closer, crawl (carefully) around; (2) why is it in the condition it’s in–bankruptcy, family death, family squabble…..(3) and finally, I’ll bet the wood in the barn would make great siding or […]

That would be a great place to explore! As you said, “carefully”. Guess I’m getting a little long in the tooth to be climbing around in old barns. Your setting were OK…..it looks old & gloomy, just like it’s supposed to look!

More From The Road Trip

So, only two votes and it was a tie. The two today are from today’s trip to retrieve Kyle. The first is from a house close to the fields where the Civil War battle around Aldie, VA were fought. The shot is looking from the fence uphill to close where the old house sits where […]

Some of those old merry-go-round critters were kind of spooky looking. You’re right…..the wood is cracked but the paint is in good shape. Collecting those is an expensive hobby! Saw a TV show on it ages ago.

Happy New Year !!

Kelsey and I went on an adventure to Occoquan, a small village about 10 miles south. I used to cook down there and we went to the place I cooked. Different name, different owners but they are still doing some Belgian so I at least recognized the cuisine. We had a brunch that was chocolate […]

LOVED the sunflowers! So vivid! Maybe I should grow some next year? It’s nice to see architecture that doesn’t exist in my neck of the woods. Wonder what the Old Town fathers would think of that racy lady in the window of that fine old building? I still can’t make myself be a fan of black & white photos. Wish my tomatoes looked like the ones there! Great job, Bro!!
