Flowers & Bees

The azaleas are blooming which is problematic for my allergies but I really like the bright colors. We have white, pink, and red–I wish they would last all  year. Of course, there are lots of critters taking advantage of the blooms. Here a couple of them. Taken with a macro lens, 105mm, f/7.1, 1/2000.

Wow! Nice job, Bro!! Best picture of a bee I ever saw! Our bees look different from yours. You have black & yellow; we have brown & beige. Is that one a bumble bee, not a honey bee? Can’t tell the size of it. Love the bronze metallic tinge to the wings!! Great camera & talented guy behind the lens!

Oh I can see the pollen on his head. beautiful!

Another Bird

This is a lame attempt, and my first, with HDR. I am thinkin’ I need to just stay with my day job. The shot is from a walk through on the grounds of the Jack Daniels Distillery. When we were there, I swear I saw more ducks than employees. They must have them underground or […]

HDR = High Dynamic Range image. There are actually three images merged into one to take advantage of the different dynamic ranges of different f stops. These were taken at 2.8 and 3.5 and 4.0. That’s probably not a wide enough range to see the full effect.

Wait a sec……High Def Resolution?????

OK, I give up! What is HDR? It’s a lovely duck!

Sure you can give up your day job! I’m visiting after not having checked in for a while, and have to say I’m really impressed with the quality! This HDR is very well done, even if the focus is much more on that beautiful bridge than on the ducks. The rose and the bird taking off in Alabama are also fantastic!

Alabama – The Bird

I was in Alabama visiting last week and had my camera (surprise). We were out next to a lake on a beautiful but chilly day when this bird came walking by. Except we scared him. These are some shots as he begins the takeoff. He flew away only about a hundred yards but he was […]

I think Trevor is correct! Blue Heron was the first bird that came to mind…….with all my experience at watching nature shows on PBS, ya know. 🙂 Beautiful pix!!!

Trevor wrote and thinks this is a Great Blue Heron.

Great timing and beautiful captures.

Quick Snaps

Getting out of the car at home this afternoon, I heard that familiar “honk, honk, honk” and I don’t mean cars!! Rising from the lake and coming over the trees was yet another flock of geese. I quickly shot and did get a few. One I treated to an old grain black and white treatment, […]

Geese are pretty…..if they don’t live in your front yard!! I think the only worse is pigeons! Maybe only because there are so many more of them We blast the ones that try to move in here with a water jet when we hear them on the roof. Funny thing……they haven’t come back but live in the nook & crannies of the houses on either side of us! You know me……I like the color pic better!!
