Early Sign of Spring or Just Random Dash of Color & Beauty?

On my walkabout in the Gardens, I glimpsed a splash of color,  looked into a thicket and saw an individual flower seemingly attached to a small tree. The flower was the size of a quarter and probably would  not normally have been visible but the weather was bleak, the bushes and trees all around were […]

How extraordinary!!! It looks a bit like a dogwood flower but maybe too pink for that. Who knows……but it’s just lovely and leave it to you to find it!! 🙂

Winter? Hmmm, maybe. But right now, just cold rain.

I went out in the rain to take a couple of shots. Actually the weather is very nice compared to normal winters. We’ve got temps in the upper 30s and 40s and just a gentle drizzle. If the temp was low, we’d have lots of snow but it’s not and so we don’t. Did a […]

A Camellia bud about to open! I wish I could grow them here but I don’t have a shady spot & they need one! I HAVE to know what that strange “bat” flower is! That’s the strangest thing I ever saw!!! I feel an online search coming on!! Beautiful pix!!

Veggie Tales in Old Town

The colors of the Farmers’ Market are extraordinary. The summer veggies and the flowers are rich with colors that demand your highest attention. These two were taken at ISO1600, f/7.1 to get the depth of field that I wanted. The eggplant was taken at 122m with1/1000. The sunflower with a 300mm, also at 1/1000. What […]

There are so many sunflower hybrids now that they could be natural. On the other hand, you’re right & a day in some water with red food coloring will make strange things. Pretty anyway!

WOW! These are great contrasts! Love the eggplant!

Flowers – HDR

Haven’t been out much lately to just take pictures so when I was working in the yard around sunrise, I decided to stop and take a couple of snaps. I chose flowers, which aren’t all that “dynamic,” because that’s pretty much what I had in the yard. Well, maybe not, but that’s what I shot. […]

Is the last one, the purple flower the one you went “overboard” on? I think it’s very nice! It’s possible you might get that surreal, cool structure that you’ve got, but have a slightly less intense effect (more realistic?) if you cut back a bit on the blues and left everything else as it is. I like these!

My camera is back from the shop!

My camera was in for repairs, although there was nothing “broken,” it just wasn’t quite right. They replaced some bits and parts which leads me to believe that I was correct in my assessment. The pix from the range yesterday were much better from a camera performance standpoint. This morning I grabbed some flowers from […]

Just Beautiful!!!!! I love Double Delight roses! Have one in the front yard. Just a baby yet since it’s only in its second year with us. Can’t quite identify the yellow one but it sure is pretty!

A Picture at Last!

I haven’t been out much during the daylight because of the J.O.B. thing and I’ve been worrying that the focus on my camera just wasn’t quite right. So, I spent a few hours today looking at concentric circles and finally macro stuff and of course, I had no imagination for anything so used the flowers […]

That’s one exquisite picture!!! I’ve never seen such clarity except in the National Geographic mags!! Looks like your camera is focusing just fine…..which is more than I can say for mine. The Nikon is “in the shop” and I’m starting to wonder if they are EVER going to send it back to me! Thank goodness for back up Samsungs!
