So, we went clothes shopping. Except not for me!! But I went to have the company and see the sights!! And surprise, I lugged my camera around, too. I took some shots of people but they weren’t always smiling. Consequently, I ended up with shots of “things” and of course they were things around me. […]

Great looking shoes but I can’t fathom trying to walk in them!! I’m in the orthopedic phase of my shoe life!! Liked the floating hand. Nikon & I are back in the battle of the S8000!! They are repairing it AGAIN! It’s their last chance. I can’t believe how incompetent they are!! Sheesh!

Old Town Walkabout

I needed to get away for a few minutes, so…we headed for Old Town Alexandria for a beer. Sun was peeking out and the temp was actually very mild. Went to the Union Street Pub for a beer and an oyster. Some sort of “dragon” oyster. It was good. While walking, we saw a consignment […]

I remember when those belts with all the chains on them were the “IN” thing! It was a long time ago. That’s a pretty one!

More From The Road Trip

So, only two votes and it was a tie. The two today are from today’s trip to retrieve Kyle. The first is from a house close to the fields where the Civil War battle around Aldie, VA were fought. The shot is looking from the fence uphill to close where the old house sits where […]

Some of those old merry-go-round critters were kind of spooky looking. You’re right…..the wood is cracked but the paint is in good shape. Collecting those is an expensive hobby! Saw a TV show on it ages ago.

Please vote! Which Top Hat Do You Like Better?

While on our Road Trip, we stopped for lunch in Middleburg. The building was very old and the food was good. I took a couple of snaps, the light was very low, essentially lit by candle type lights and windows. I did this at ISO10000. The first shot is “out of the camera” and the […]

I can’t decide which I like better. I agree with you about the additional detail in the mantel being nice, and I really like what you did with the hat (leaving some light and painting back some of the original black). If it were me, I might have drawn a layer mask over the upper part of the image (except leave the hat as processed in image 2). Then I would feather the layer mask so it doesn’t show 🙂 If you want me to explain what I’m talking about, feel free to shoot me a mail. Nice work either way!

I like shot #1

I like the original hat better, bro! That’s because I tend to like “warmer” photos……sort of a gold glow to it. The processed hat is definitely more detailed but the “feeling” left me kind of cold. All in the eye of the beholder, huh?
