Roses

The rose bush we have is a tall, wicked sort of thing…sharp thorns everywhere. The top branches and blossoms are well over seven feet high. If the bugs don’t get the leaves, the plant is actually quite pretty…if you don’t have to touch it. It rained last night and was humid this morning so all of the plants were dripping wet. These blossoms are probably the last gasp of roses for the season but I admit that they are pretty, especially when framed with sparkling dew drops. The second shot is what my sis-in-law tells me are rose hips, the fruit of the rose. The mood of the shot reminds me of that old song “Delta Dawn” what’s that flower you have on?Rose In the MorningRose Hips

  1. Awesome pic of the “fruit of the rose”! Now you can make tea!! My roses have been sadly neglected this year and it shows. I let them grow out so the little birds would have cover from Freddie the Falcon but since Don has decided to quit feeding the sparrows & finches, I can get them properly pruned soon! Loved the dew drops in the pic of the rosebud!! Have a great day!! Love you!!
