I flew to California to attend my uncle’s service which was truly a celebration of a man who led an awesome life. Perhaps the most exciting phase of his life was during WWII, ย he was assigned to the LST-309 a ship that carried tanks from BIG ships directly to the beach. The ship was in Tunisia where they were bombed nearly every night for months; then the 309 took part in the Sicilian landing and operations. Then off to Operation Avalanche—the landing and invasion of Italy at Salerno. And then on to Normandy where he landed at Omaha Beach. And more, and more. ย I enjoyed the short time with my family and wished I could have stayed longer. And my Desert family (S-I-L Chris and Hubby “The Bird Whisperer”) who live in the high, high desert, well, sadly I didn’t get to see them at all. I did get to spend a few hours with our good friend Jill…I think she needs to come visit us.When I got home, there was snow everywhere. SoCal to DC. And then more snow. So, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The first shot is Kelsey and Kyle with the snowman that they carved out of the snow. They were devastated because the next day, Diane backed into the poor little guy. Took his nose right off and smashed his chin. And oh…the humanity…provided brute force liposuction to his midsection. And then…she left the scene. OMG. She and Mandi were put on posing probation and had to smile for me in memory of the perfectly formed snowman.
