The World Is Your Oyster

When I looked out over the lake yesterday and saw this young couple sitting on the point, I thought of the Oyster saying. I think the meaning is something like–“you’re young, the world is all before you, and is yours for the taking.” She was in heels, an office work-place dress; he was in chinos and a casual Friday shirt. I imagined that they’d stolen these moments after work, walked through the sandy beach and rocks to get to the stones on the point and to look out… And imagine all of the things they could do, all of the fun they could have, all of the—well, you get my drift. Of course, they were probably just talking about that whiney person in the cube next to theirs. Smile.Couple At Lake Accotink
